Walk to End Sexual Violence

Men! Grab your most comfortable heels and meet at the Bandstand at Forsyth Park on Tuesday, May 24th at 6:00 pm! The Teal H.E.A.L. (Help End Assault with Love) Walk distinctively allows Mary's Place to inspire support from males to join the effort to end sexual violence to all victims we serve and bring awareness of the struggles they face. Participants can register for $25 and are encouraged to raise additional funds from family, friends, and colleagues or form a team! Participants walk around Forsyth Park in high-heel shoes - symbolizing the steps victims take toward healing. Females, you can participate too, by providing support to males on their journey. A Teal H.E.A.L. award will be presented to the group and individuals with the most funds raised.

Each year more people in the community are joining in the walk and assist in supporting the Mary's Place Mission. Teal HEAL is a playful opportunity for men to raise awareness in their community about a severe issue.

It's not easy walking in someone else shoes, but it's a light hearted event that gets the community talking about gender relations and sexual violence. It is critical to have open communication and fight the stigma associated with rape and sexual assault. Many victims live in silence for a lifetime -never disclosing their assault and, worse, never getting the help they need.

As a result, victims never heal, and perpetrators are never stopped or held accountable. While men are victims too, many are also fathers, husbands, sons, and brothers of women who have been assaulted and feel paralyzed by the thought of an assault against their loved one and experience feelings of inadequacy because they feel they cannot help.

What can you do? Join us in this walk and take a unified stand against all forms of sexual violence.

*Each participant acknowledges with their registration that Mary's Place of the Coastal Empire is in no way responsible for any injury while on site at Forsyth Park.*
